Alma Mater
O, JFK we rise to you
As Eagles soaring straight and true.
Proud white and blue our colors fly
As signs of strength high in the sky.
Your faith and courage we'll defend
We pledge allegiance to the end.
In love and trust we will abide,
With God to bless and you to guide.
History: In mid-November 1963, the St. Mary's High School students and faculty joined the eighth graders and their teachers from the Catholic elementary schools of Trumbull County at a gathering at the present site of John F. Kennedy High School. The occasion was the laying of the cornerstone for the new Annunciation High School by Monsignor Joseph Krispinsky, Dean of the County. After the ceremony all participants gathered in the courtyard with the band and the cheerleaders for a gala rally to proclaim the reality of the new Diocesan High School.
On November 22 of that same year, President John F. Kennedy was assasinated. The priests of the area presented the request of many in Trumbull County that the name of the school be changed to John F. Kennedy High School in honor of the first Catholic President of the United States. The announcement that the request had been granted by Youngstown's Bishop Emmet Walsh brought joy to all. They felt that the memory of John F. Kennedy would inspire the students to strive for the highest ideals as they remembered the inspiring words of his inaugural address, "Let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth, God's work must truly be ours."
Mission: John F. Kennedy Catholic High School strives to serve the spiritual, academic and social needs of the students of Trumbull County for the Diocese of Youngstown. Guided by Gospel values and the tradition of courage, integrity and dedication, we will provide our students with programs committed to comprehensive spiritual formation, academic excellence, community service and social responsibility. Our intent is to prepare these young men and women to embrace their future as productive and responsible Christian adults.
